Musical Concept
The music for Animal Farm is a multi-channel electroacoustic composition, developed for the speaker system and the specific space of the riding hall at the Hans Otto Theater. The space itself becomes an instrument, and the speaker system functions as an integral part of both the composition and the performance.
Thus, a sound space is created where the audience becomes part of the acoustic situation. Surreal, organic soundscapes intertwine with mechanically structured rhythms. Voices, noises, and music are continuously shifted in their function – between atmosphere, ritual, instruments of power, and moments of joy and renewal.
A folk song, accompanying the creatures around the campfire, emerges as if from another realm: foreign, familiar, fragile – an echo of community that unfolds throughout the evening
