The sound installation “Eleven Songs” (Halle am Berghain/Berlin 2020) of the work series “farben/raumfarben” creates a sound space that modifies the space-time perception of the visitors. The starting point is the space with its sounds and noises, in its architectural, social, functional and rhythmic structure. The musical language of the composition, the sound material and the compositional strategy develop from these colors and characteristics, which enter into a continuous dialogue with the acoustic events on site.
The concept of space is not understood here as a vessel for a musical-auditive experience, but as a place of the interplay between sound and architecture, in particular the way in which sound shapes space and, conversely, how architectural structures (form, materiality, volume) influence and color the sound. The artistic concept focuses on the individual sensory experience of people in real space and thus opens up a discussion in the field of tension between virtual and real space.
