Mythen der Moderne is a collective that uses interdisciplinary formats to explore socially and culturally relevant phenomena. We create spaces for collective exchange and forge alliances between the audience’s level of experience and the artistic work. In site-specific projects and on the basis of intensive research, we create theatrical formats and link them to different levels of participatory communication. We navigate between different points of view and perspectives, whose contradictions, intercultural diversity and out-of-the-box scenarios are expressed in a specific artistic realization. Our approach focuses on people’s narratives, life plans and spaces and makes sense of them in scenic installations and interventions. Questions of identity, memory, values and meaning are raised – between documentation and fiction, narrative and performative representation, these productions reflect the multiple, not always conclusive realities of the present and how we deal with them. We work with artists from the fields of drama, literature, sound art, architecture and dance.
The initiators are the artist Pia Janssen and the writer Bettina Erasmy.
